PgBouncer - Connection Pooling and Routing by Petr Jelinek

PgBouncer is a lightweight connection pooler for Postgres which can greatly improve the performance of the database. It can do more than just simple connection pooling though, the connection routing feature make it possible to handle failovers and maintenance tasks transparently from the point of the application.
In this talk I will describe individual pooling modes, what are they good for and what are the caveats that users should look into before using them. Show the connection routing use-cases which may be useful in real-life scenarios and talk about some more modern features added in later versions of PgBouncer (1.6 and 1.7).
