Are NoSQL Databases more reliable? by Alan Jones
Tuesday, November 15 at 3:40-4:35
Databases designed around Multi-Paxos or Raft provide reliability by committing updates to a majority in a quorum group. Ketch is a new protocol and open source project (http://github.com/watercraft/ketch) that configures Postgres replication to achieve the same result. Availability is also achieved by keeping additional asynchronous replicas that can be brought in sync quickly. This session will compare the reliability and availability of the Ketch solution with NoSQL alternatives.
